35 New Gynaecology Posts Approved at LGH on CM’s Orders

LAHORE (AIA) On the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Finance Department has approved 35 new posts for Gynaecology Unit 3 at Lahore General Hospital (LGH). This move aims to strengthen maternal and infant healthcare services and ensure timely medical care for women and newborns.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar, principal of Ameer Uddin Medical College, lauded the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare facilities. He stressed that the increasing number of patients at LGH necessitated this expansion, particularly in the Maternity and Child Department, which receives a high volume of women seeking treatment.
“This step, under the leadership of CM Punjab, will ensure uninterrupted and timely medical care for women and their newborns,” Prof. Zafar said.
The newly approved posts include:
One professor (Grade 20)

One associate professor (Grade 19)

Two assistant professors

Five senior registrars

Eleven medical officers

Two head nurses

Thirteen charge nurses
Prof. Zafar highlighted that the initiative reflects the government’s focus on improving maternal and infant healthcare. “Healthy mothers give birth to healthy children, and children are the most valuable asset of any nation. This approval underscores the government’s dedication to their well-being,” he remarked.
He expressed hope that the additional staff will significantly benefit patients by enhancing access to specialised medical expertise and ensuring better care for women and newborns.
