PM Thanks China for Unwavering Support Amid India Tensions

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed gratitude to China for its strong and unwavering support for Pakistan amid the current situation in South Asia.

He conveyed his appreciation during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, who called on him in Islamabad.

Shehbaz extended warm wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also recalled the recent telephonic conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and thanked China for understanding Pakistan’s principled stance regarding India’s actions since April 22, 2025.

The prime minister also appreciated China’s endorsement of his proposal for a credible, neutral, and transparent international investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He reiterated that Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The PM said that India’s belligerent actions risk diverting Pakistan’s focus from its ongoing counter-terrorism efforts against ISKP, TTP, and BLA—groups operating from within Afghanistan.

He further noted that India’s decision to weaponise water is extremely regrettable, especially given that the Indus Waters Treaty does not permit either party to unilaterally withdraw from its commitments.

Ambassador Jiang reaffirmed that China would always stand by Pakistan to achieve their shared goal of ensuring peace and stability in South Asia.
