Sindh Rolls Out Youth Journalism and Emerging Star

KARACHI (AIA) The Sindh government has announced the launch of the Youth Citizen Journalism Programme and Youth Emerging Star Programme in Karachi, Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad, effective from 16 May.
In addition, comprehensive capacity-building and digital skills training programmes will be rolled out across all six divisions of the province during May 2025.
Provincial Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mehar said in a statement that the Youth Citizen Journalism Programme will offer specialised training to young journalists aged 18 to 29, equipping them to effectively communicate their stories, issues, and experiences to a global audience. The initiative aims to foster a culture of awareness and critical thinking among young people, enabling them to take a more informed and active role in society.
The Youth Emerging Star Programme, Mehar said, is designed to discover and nurture hidden talent among youth. It will identify and support gifted individuals across diverse fields including the arts, culture, science, and technology, while providing them with guidance and opportunities to develop their skills.
He added that the capacity-building programme, aimed at enhancing essential competencies such as teamwork, will include workshops, seminars, and training sessions. These initiatives are intended to empower young people to become confident, engaged citizens who contribute positively to society.
