Illegal Occupants Out, 678 Students Allotted PU Hostel Rooms
— May 17, 2025
LAHORE (AIA) In line with the directives of Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, the university administration has successfully completed a comprehensive clean-up operation in its hostels, resulting in the allotment of rooms to 678 additional students from morning programmes who had previously been deprived of accommodation.
A PU spokesperson said the affected students, mostly from other provinces and remote areas, were unable to access hostel facilities due to illegal occupation. The operation has freed up space for more deserving students from across the country, with a focus on underrepresented regions.
As a result, the number of students from Balochistan in university hostels has increased to 281, while 192 students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 165 from Gilgit-Baltistan, 116 from Sindh, and 36 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir have secured accommodation.
The spokesperson added that, on the special instructions of the Vice Chancellor, strict monitoring and verification procedures will continue in all hostels to ensure transparency, discipline, and fair allocation of resources.
