ISLAMABAD (AIA) A three-day civil defence training programme for boys’ schools and colleges in Islamabad concluded successfully on Tuesday, equipping more than 7,000 students with essential life-saving skills.
The initiative was launched by the Directorate General of Civil Defence under the leadership of Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Organised in collaboration with the CDA and the Federal Directorate of Education, the training aimed to prepare students for emergencies such as fires, earthquakes, and other disasters.
A total of 70 boys’ institutions participated in the programme. Expert trainers from both Civil Defence and the CDA conducted practical sessions covering first aid, fire safety, basic life-saving techniques, and how to remain calm during crises.
Six Civil Defence teams and four CDA teams worked together to deliver the training. Students actively engaged in the sessions and expressed strong interest in applying the knowledge to assist their families and communities.
CDA Chairman Randhawa commended the efforts of all trainers and participating organisations. He also announced plans to launch similar training sessions for girls’ schools and colleges in the capital, aiming to make emergency preparedness a regular feature of school education.
Officials believe the initiative will contribute to building a safer, more resilient society by empowering youth with the knowledge and skills to save lives.
