— May 28, 2025
LAHORE (AIA) In a strongly-worded directive, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered immediate action against the unjustified surge in chicken prices across the province. Chairing a special meeting in Lahore, she instructed relevant departments to take swift measures to regulate chicken prices and ensure stability in the market.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the need for close monitoring of essential vegetable prices, including tomatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, green chilies, and lemons, ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. She warned that any price hike due to hoarding will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to revisit ‘roti’ prices following the recent reduction in flour prices, ensuring relief for consumers. She also sought a comprehensive plan to reduce transportation costs for vegetables and instructed the Agriculture Department to promote off-season vegetable cultivation.
The directives aim to stabilize prices and ensure availability of essential commodities during the festive season.
