NDMA Issues Flood Advisory for Next Two Days Amid Enhanced Monsoon Activity

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast moderate to heavy monsoon rainfall and issued a flood advisory for the next two days, citing enhanced monsoon activity across the country. According to the National Emergencies Operation Center, the moisture inflow from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, combined with a strong westerly wave, is expected to result in moderate to heavy monsoon rainfall until Thursday, potentially causing riverine and flash flooding in various regions.
The forecast indicates increased water flows in major rivers, including Kabul, Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab, with low flood levels expected at several stations. The NDMA has advised residents living near rivers, streams, and nullahs to remain vigilant for sudden increases in water levels, particularly during periods of intense rainfall. The authority is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with provincial and district disaster management authorities to ensure timely preparedness and response measures.
