PM Shehbaz Directs Authorities to Ease Access to Soft Loans for Small Farmers

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to facilitate easy access to soft loans for small and medium-scale farmers, emphasizing the need to treat them with respect and dignity to boost agricultural productivity. Chairing a meeting on agricultural loan facilitation, he noted that small farmers face significant challenges in securing low-cost loans and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing affordable financing to meet their needs. The Prime Minister instructed swift implementation of reforms to enhance the performance of Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and directed private banks to offer low-cost loans to small-scale farmers on favorable terms. He also announced that he will personally review progress on loan provision initiatives through ZTBL every three weeks.
