NDMA Urges Curb on Tourism Amid Monsoon Threats; Section 144 May Be Imposed in Risk Zones

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Acting on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide advisory restricting tourist activities in mountainous regions due to intensified monsoon activity.
The NDMA has instructed provincial and district administrations to enforce tourism limitations in disaster-prone areas and take immediate preventive measures to safeguard lives. Movement of the public in high-risk zones is also to be curtailed during the ongoing monsoon spells.
If necessary, restrictions under Section 144 may be imposed to prevent loss of life or property. The NDMA has called on law enforcement agencies to ensure strict compliance with the guidelines and urged citizens to avoid non-essential travel to vulnerable regions.
The advisory aims to reduce the risk of casualties and facilitate uninterrupted relief and rescue operations in areas already affected by flooding and landslides.
