Nation to Mark 148th Birth Anniversary of Allama Iqbal

LAHORE (AIA) The 148th birth anniversary of the national poet and philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal will be observed across Pakistan on Sunday with national reverence. Born on November 9, 1877, in Sialkot, Iqbal is celebrated as the “Poet of the East” for his visionary poetry and political insight that inspired the Muslim community of the Subcontinent.
Iqbal’s historic Allahabad Address in 1930 laid the ideological foundation for a separate Muslim homeland, galvanizing the movement that ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan. To honor his legacy, a ceremonial change of guard will take place at the Mazar-e-Iqbal (Iqbal’s Mausoleum) in Lahore, alongside various literary, cultural, and academic programs scheduled nationwide.
The observance reflects the enduring impact of Iqbal’s thought on Pakistan’s national identity and his continued inspiration for future generations.
