— December 1, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a crucial meeting in Islamabad today, focusing on enhancing cargo-clearance efficiency at Karachi’s ports. The committee, tasked with proposing measures to modernize port operations, was briefed on ongoing and planned initiatives aimed at streamlining related processes.
The meeting, attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, and senior officials, reaffirmed inter-ministerial coordination and Pakistan’s commitment to improving its maritime infrastructure. The initiatives aim to bring Karachi ports up to global standards, lower trade costs, and enhance economic growth.
This development comes as Pakistan seeks to strengthen its economic ties, including a recent agreement with the UAE to develop and operate a bulk and general cargo terminal at Karachi port.
