Asif Pushes for Empowered Local Govt System

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called for legislation to introduce a uniform curriculum and empowered local government system nationwide, citing the Karachi fire incident as a stark reminder of the need for effective governance.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Asif emphasized that local governments should address public issues at the grassroots level. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhary assured the house that the National Action Plan against terrorism is being implemented with provincial support, with daily operations underway. Lawmakers urged priority attention to Karachi’s problems and ensuring commercial center safety. The House also received two bills, including a constitutional amendment and an institute bill.
