ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating polio, citing a comprehensive strategy and effective team efforts. During a meeting with Dr. Chris Elias, President of Global Development at the Gates Foundation, Sharif emphasized the government’s collaboration with provinces to ensure polio teams’ accessibility nationwide.
The Prime Minister thanked Bill Gates and Saudi Arabia for their support in the fight against polio, acknowledging significant progress but stressing the need for emergency measures. Relevant Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects will continue across the country.
Dr. Elias appreciated Sharif’s personal attention to polio eradication, recognizing Pakistan’s effective steps towards success. The Gates Foundation will maintain constructive consultations with federal and provincial governments on polio eradication efforts.
