International Day of Deafblindness Observed Today
— June 27, 2026ISLAMABAD (AIA) The International Day of Deafblindness is being observed today to honor the birth of Helen Keller, a pioneering figure in the deafblind community.
The day aims to raise awareness that deafblindness is a distinct disability, separate from blindness or deafness, where impaired senses cannot compensate for each other.
Organizers say the observance seeks to ensure the deafblind community remains visible and recognized worldwide. The last week of June is also marked as Deafblind International Awareness Week.
