Students Demand Accountability and Safety Reforms After Fatal Karsaz Incident

KARACHI (AIA) A tragic car accident in Karachi that claimed the lives of a 26-year-old student and her father has ignited widespread anger and calls for justice. Students from various educational institutions have come together to demand immediate action against the female driver responsible for the deadly incident.
The students have called for the formation of a joint committee to investigate the accident, comprising representatives from the police, traffic police, public officials, and local residents. This committee would ensure a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, identify the causes, and hold those responsible accountable.
A key demand from students is the installation of speed limit signs on service roads, clearly indicating the “dead slow” speed limit. Service roads are designed for low speeds due to their proximity to businesses, residences, and pedestrians, which requires drivers to exercise extreme caution. The students emphasized that the woman’s reckless disregard for this speed limit led to the senseless loss of innocent lives.
The students are adamant that the woman driver, who crushed the bicycle and motorcyclists with impunity, must be investigated on merit and punished accordingly. Her actions, described as “crushing ants,” demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life and the law.
The students’ demands extend beyond justice for the victims; they are also advocating for measures to prevent future tragedies. They urge the government to install speed limit signs and enforce strict traffic regulations to curb reckless driving and protect citizens’ lives.
The Karsaz tragedy has brought to light the need for collective action to address the issues of reckless driving, disregard for human life, inadequate traffic enforcement, and a lack of accountability. The students’ demands serve as a wake-up call for the government to take immediate action
