ISLAMABAD (AIA) Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and Discover Pakistan TV have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly promote tourism in Pakistan and abroad. The agreement, aimed at positioning Pakistan as a prime tourist destination, was formalised on Friday by PTDC Managing Director Aftab-ur Rehman Rana and Discover Pakistan TV CEO Dr. Kaiser Rafiq.
Under the MoU, both organisations will collaborate on a range of promotional activities, including creating high-quality digital content showcasing Pakistan’s tourist destinations, promoting responsible and sustainable tourism through awareness campaigns, and engaging with both national and international travel enthusiasts.
A key aspect of the partnership will be the continuation of the National Tourism Awards of Excellence, an annual event that recognises industry stakeholders for their contributions to promoting and developing tourism in Pakistan.
“PTDC, as the national tourism organisation, is committed to utilising all resources to promote tourism and facilitate both local and international tourists,” said Rana. “Our vision is to bring economic prosperity, particularly to remote areas, through tourism.” He also expressed optimism that the MoU would further enhance tourism promotion via electronic media, commending Discover Pakistan TV for its dedicated efforts in promoting a positive image of Pakistan as a tourist-friendly country.
Dr. Rafiq echoed these sentiments, highlighting the potential impact of the collaboration in boosting Pakistan’s tourism industry. He emphasised that this partnership would help develop a unified strategy to promote tourism, ultimately contributing to foreign exchange earnings by attracting international tourists.
