Maryam Ke Dastak’ Expands Across Panjab, Revolutionising Public Service Delivery in Punjab
— October 15, 2024
LAHORE (AIA) The “Maryam Ke Dastak” initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz and implemented by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has expanded its reach to 22 districts across the province, transforming public service delivery. Residents of Kasur, Jhang, Attock, Bhakkar, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, Jehlum, Mianwali, and Sheikhupura can now access over 60 government services without leaving their homes.
Initially launched in 11 districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Sahewal, Okara, and Pakpattan, the programme has seen rapid growth since its inception on June 4, 2024. What began as a service offering 10 essential public services in Lahore has, in just three months, expanded to over 60 services across 22 districts.
The “Dastak Doorstep Services App” allows citizens to request services related to driving licences, the police department, excise and taxation, local government, the Board of Revenue, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), social welfare, and livestock and dairy development, among others. These services can be accessed online via the mobile app or through the 1202 helpline, with trained ‘Dastak Facilitators’ delivering services to citizens’ doorsteps through a commission-based model that also provides employment opportunities.
