Banking Sector to Observe Public Holiday on November 9

KARACHI (AIA) The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and all banking and financial institutions will observe a public holiday on Saturday, November 9, 2024, in honour of Allama Iqbal Day, marking the 147th birth anniversary of the renowned poet and philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on Saturday, November 9, 2024, being a public holiday on the occasion of Allama Iqbal Day, as declared by the Government of Pakistan,” read an official notice from SBP’s Banking Policy and Regulations Department issued Wednesday.
Known as the “Poet of the East” and the “Conceiver of Pakistan,” Dr. Iqbal’s legacy will be honoured nationwide. Banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) across the country will join in observing the public holiday.
