Cold, Dry Weather to Persist Across Pakistan: PMD Forecast

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cold and dry weather for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours, with particularly chilly conditions expected in northern regions during the morning and night.
Shallow fog is likely to persist in patches over some areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning hours. According to the synoptic situation, continental air is dominating much of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is expected to approach the upper regions from Saturday night.
PMD senior meteorologist Imran Siddiqui stated that December is forecast to experience two rain spells, which could help improve air quality by reducing smog and minimising travel hazards. He added that November has been largely dry in recent years, but the expected rain in December could offer significant relief, especially in areas struggling with poor air quality.
While the intensity of the rainfall remains uncertain, it is expected to reduce smog levels and alleviate travel disruptions caused by fog. In the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed across the country, with the lowest temperatures recorded in Leh (-10°C), Skardu (-7°C), Astore (-5°C), and Gilgit (-4°C).
