Punjab Government Establishes Special Planning Authority to Regulate Land Use

LAHORE ( AIA ) In a bid to curb illegal housing societies, the Punjab government has decided to establish a Special Planning Authority (SPA) to regulate zoning for commercial, residential, and agricultural lands. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore on Wednesday.
The SPA will be responsible for overseeing district land use planning and zoning, with mandatory reviews every four years. This move aims to ensure that land use in Punjab is aligned with the government’s vision for sustainable development.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also reviewed proposals for eco-friendly, walkable housing societies. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote environmentally sustainable urban planning.
The establishment of the SPA is a significant step towards addressing the issue of illegal housing societies in Punjab. It is expected to bring transparency and accountability to the land use planning process, ensuring that development projects are aligned with the government’s regulations and policies.
The Punjab government’s decision to establish the SPA is a positive move towards promoting sustainable development and curbing illegal activities in the real estate sector.
