PTA Urges Consumers to Verify Tax Payment Status of Mobile Devices

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised consumers to confirm the tax payment status of mobile devices before making a purchase.
According to a news release, buyers must ensure that all required taxes have been paid for devices and are registered under the correct CNIC or passport category in the Device Identification, Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).
For individuals purchasing unregistered mobile devices, it is their responsibility to pay applicable taxes and duties within 60 days to enable usage on local networks. The PTA stresses the importance of personally submitting taxes through authorized banking channels to avoid fraudulent offers.
It’s worth noting that taxes and duties are imposed solely by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), while the PTA’s role is limited to overseeing device registration through DIRBS to ensure legal use and connectivity on local networks.
