Arts Forum President Urges Sindh CM to Resolve Arts Council Crisis

KARACHI (AIA) Mubashir Mir, President of The Arts Forum, has written a letter to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, highlighting serious issues facing the Arts Council of Karachi and urging immediate action.
In the letter, Mir called for an audit of financial grants, a review of the membership process, and enhanced safety measures for council members and guests.
“The Arts Council Karachi is the centre of cultural and artistic expression in Sindh, but the institution faces numerous challenges,” Mir wrote. He emphasised concerns over the lack of transparency in the distribution and utilisation of government financial grants, requesting the chief minister to ensure the funds are used effectively and responsibly.
Mir also raised alarms about irregularities in the membership process, advocating for an independent audit to ensure fair and unbiased membership practices.
He stressed the need for urgent safety measures to protect Arts Council members and visitors, warning that these issues, if left unaddressed, could hinder the organisation’s growth and impact on Karachi’s cultural landscape.
