— March 24, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) The government has decided to organise a mineral conference in Islamabad next month under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to explore and develop Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, valued at an estimated $8 trillion.
A key focus of the conference will be the Reko Diq project, which involves a $5.5 billion investment and is expected to be completed by the end of 2028. Once operational, the project is projected to generate an annual income of $2.8 billion.
The government is also considering offering five major mineral sector projects to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of efforts to attract foreign investment.
Additionally, in collaboration with SIFC, plans are being developed to establish a rail link between Gwadar and Chagai, aiming to improve connectivity and facilitate mineral transportation.
