Kamal Vows Best Medical Facilities, Modern Reforms in Health Sector

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal on Thursday pledged to deliver quality medicines and treatment facilities to people’s doorsteps using modern technology.
Speaking to the media during a visit to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Kamal stressed that negligence in the health sector will not be tolerated, as errors in this field can be irreversible.
He said work on ongoing projects at PIMS is progressing rapidly. “We have always treated our responsibilities as challenges, and we will ensure medicines and treatment facilities reach the public at their doorsteps.”
Kamal emphasised the need for greater focus on the health sector, assuring that positive reforms will soon be visible. He said the government is working on modernising basic health centres and strengthening telemedicine services.
To enhance healthcare accessibility, he announced plans to introduce a “one patient, one ID” system and improve primary health facilities to reduce the burden on major hospitals.
“Our goal is to provide quality medicines and skilled doctors in all public hospitals,” he said.
He added that seven new operation theatres have been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.1 billion, equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities.
Kamal clarified that there are no current plans to introduce a public-private partnership in the health sector. However, he said the government will focus on the health card programme in the coming days.
