China, Russia, Iran Call for End to Unilateral Sanctions

BEIJING (AIA) China, Russia, and Iran have jointly called for an end to all illegal unilateral sanctions following high-level talks in Beijing on Friday, focusing on Tehran’s nuclear issues.
Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu chaired the meeting, which was attended by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, according to CGTN.
Ma, speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, emphasised that all parties should address the root causes of the current tensions and reject both sanctions pressure and the threat of force.
The diplomats underscored the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorses the 2015 nuclear deal—formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
They urged all relevant parties to avoid actions that could further escalate tensions and to work together to create a conducive atmosphere for renewed diplomatic efforts.
Ma reaffirmed China’s commitment to an impartial stance, pledging to actively promote dialogue and contribute to a political solution for the Iranian nuclear issue.
Iran signed the JCPOA with six world powers in July 2015, agreeing to limit its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, in 2018, the United States withdrew from the agreement under former President Donald Trump, reinstating sanctions and prompting Iran to roll back some of its nuclear commitments.
