Defence and Martyrs day observed across pakistan
— September 6, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Pakistan is observing Defence and Martyrs Day today to pay tribute to the nation’s martyrs and ghazis who defended the country against external threats. The day commemorates the 1965 war when Indian forces launched a surprise attack on Pakistan, which was successfully repelled by the nation’s armed forces.
The day was marked with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques for the country’s progress and prosperity. Ceremonies were also held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi and Mazar-i-Iqbal in Lahore, where floral wreaths were laid and fateha was offered for the martyrs.
