Dr. Mallah Showcases Pakistan’s Educational Reforms at Dubai Conference

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC), represented Pakistan at the GEMS-IBBC Autumn Conference 2024 in Dubai, showcasing transformative initiatives aimed at elevating educational standards and fostering innovation in the country, according to a press release issued Thursday.
In his address, Dr. Mallah underscored the IBCC’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s education system, processing over 150,000 equivalence cases annually to facilitate seamless transitions for students across diverse educational frameworks. The IBCC’s attestation department handles nearly 500,000 educational documents each year, serving both domestic and international stakeholders.
The commission also oversees examinations for over five million students in grades 9 to 12, collaborating with all Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) to standardise policies nationwide.
“By leveraging technological advancements such as e-office systems, online applications, and fast-track processing, we are improving accessibility and efficiency for students and stakeholders,” Dr. Mallah noted.
He highlighted several groundbreaking initiatives, including exam reforms, the development of minimum assessment standards for 30 examination bodies, continuous professional development programmes, and efforts to secure international quality certifications. “These reforms aim to align assessments with global benchmarks, promote inclusivity, and ensure fairness in education,” he said.
Dr. Mallah also provided an overview of Pakistan’s education landscape, emphasising the need for technical and vocational training to meet market demands. He noted that out of over 63 million children aged 5 to 16, 42% attend public schools, 26% are enrolled in private or non-formal institutions, and 32% remain out of school.
