Emirati Women Earn Spot on WEF’s Young Global Leaders Council 2025

ABU DHABI (AIA) The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced the selection of three distinguished Emiratis for its Young Global Leaders (YGL) Council 2025: Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development; Meera Sultan Al Suwaidi, Member of the Federal National Council; and Tuka Waddah Alhanai, Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi.
Their inclusion in the prestigious global network, which brings together outstanding leaders under 40 who have made significant contributions in their fields, underscores the growing influence of Emirati youth in leadership and decision-making roles across sectors. It also reflects international recognition of the UAE’s development model and its inclusive approach to youth empowerment.
This achievement highlights the UAE’s sustained commitment to empowering Emirati women and supporting their active participation across all areas of society.
The YGL Council comprises exceptional figures from public service, business, academia, media, civil society, and culture. Selected by the WEF, members are recognised for their professional excellence and dedication to building a better global future.
Young Emirati leaders have maintained a strong presence in this global forum, which was founded in 2004 by Professor Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the WEF, and officially launched in 2005.
Each year, new members are selected to join the council, which includes leading young professionals from around the world working across government, technology, business, and civil society.
The WEF is the international organisation for public-private cooperation, offering a global, impartial, and not-for-profit platform that connects stakeholders, builds trust, and fosters initiatives for collaboration and progress.
