— April 28, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has commended the efforts of all stakeholders for the success of the Ramadan Relief Package.
He was addressing a ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday to recognise individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance in the success of the Prime Minister’s Ramadan Relief Package and the digital delivery of funds to deserving people.
The prime minister said that under the scheme, payments were made in a transparent manner while upholding the dignity of the recipients.
He noted that modern payment methods made money transfer possible and that transferring amounts through digital wallets remained very easy and transparent.
Shehbaz said there were many shortcomings in the old payment system, which were removed by adopting the modern system. He said that under the programme, 79 per cent of payments were made digitally.
The prime minister announced that the government will expand the scope of digital wallets across the country and that provinces will also be included in the process through an integrated system.
He emphasised that the disbursement of payments was made possible due to collective team efforts and vowed that one hundred per cent of funds would be utilised digitally next year.
The premier also awarded shields to officers of public and private sector organisations in recognition of their services for the Ramadan Relief Package.
