Interim Government to Remain in Power Until Goals Are Achieved, Says Youth Adviser Bangladesh

Dhaka (AIA) Asif Mahmud, Sports and Youth Adviser to the interim government, affirmed that the current administration will continue to govern the county as long as necessary, dispelling any expectations of a swift transition of power.
On his first day at the Secretariat, Mahmud addressed reporters, emphasising that the interim administration has no intention of clinging to power and will remain in place until its goals are met.

Mahmud, one of two youth advisers in the interim government led by Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, was instrumental in the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement that led to the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5. Together with Nahid Islam, Adviser for Telecommunications and ICT, Mahmud coordinated the movement that ignited widespread protests and resulted in the establishment of the current interim government.
The statement comes as the interim government takes on the challenging task of restoring order and stability in Bangladesh while addressing the deep-seated issues that contributed to the previous administration’s downfall.
