— September 22, 2024
ISLAMABAD (AIA) The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the Professional Education Foundation (PEF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer financial assistance to students facing economic hardships. The MoU was signed in a ceremony that brought together officials from both organizations, aimed at ensuring that deserving students can continue their education without financial burdens.
Speaking at the event, NUST Rector Engr. Javed Mehmood Bukhari highlighted the importance of philanthropic support in helping NUST achieve its goal of becoming a need-blind institution. He emphasised that financial difficulties should not be a reason for students to abandon their education.
PEF Chairman Hafiz Ul Haq announced plans to expand the initiative by increasing the number of scholarships, simplifying the application process, and widening the eligibility criteria to assist more students. The MoU was formally signed by Hafiz Ul Haq and NUST’s Pro-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Commercialization, Dr. Rizwan Riaz.
Also present at the ceremony were Arooba Gillani, Director of Advancement and Head of Global Engagements, and Saadia Sadat, Resource Mobilization Officer. This partnership marks a significant step in providing greater financial access to education for underprivileged students.
