Pakistan Opens Doors For Palestinian Medical Students

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Pakistan has decided to allow medical students from Palestine to complete their medical education in Pakistan on humanitarian grounds. The Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, informed the Upper House on Friday that Palestinian medical students will be accommodated to finish their medical degrees in Pakistan.
Senator Dar explained that some UK-based groups had approached him, requesting that Pakistan facilitate the Palestinian medical students’ final year of education due to the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure.
Upon receiving these requests, Dar wrote to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), seeking a way to help these students. The PMDC agreed to accommodate all Palestinian medical students in medical colleges under its administrative control to complete their education.
“Palestinian students will come to Pakistan in batches of 20 to 30 to finish their medical education, which is a very humble contribution from Pakistan,” said Dar.
The foreign minister emphasized Pakistan’s clear stance on Gaza and noted that the country has actively promoted this position at various international forums. Pakistan raised the issue of Gaza at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Gambia and at the D-8 meeting in Istanbul, demanding an end to Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
Pakistan has supported the free flow of humanitarian aid in Gaza and has sent nine consignments as aid for the brothers and sisters in Gaza, the minister added.
Pakistan has also demanded that proceedings against Israel’s war crimes be initiated in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and has called for an end to the genocide of innocent Palestinians.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, in his recent visit to Astana, categorically supported Gaza and condemned Israel’s war crimes.
Pakistan will enable Palestinian students to complete their medical education in the fields of cardiology, orthopedics, oncology, pediatrics, and surgery to address the critical needs in Gaza’s healthcare system.
