Pakistan Reserves Right to Hit Back at India: NSC
— May 7, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) The National Security Committee (NSC), chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday, emphatically declared that Pakistan reserves the right to respond in self-defence, at a time, place, and manner of its choosing, to avenge the loss of innocent lives and the blatant violation of its sovereignty by India.
The meeting authorised the armed forces to undertake corresponding actions as required.
The committee was informed that Pakistan’s armed forces had resolutely defended the country’s territorial integrity, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, against Indian aggression. In the process, they brought down five Indian fighter aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The NSC noted that the entire Pakistani nation, deeply anguished by India’s naked aggression, greatly appreciated the bravery and timely response of the Armed Forces. It stated that the nation stands galvanised and resolute in the face of any further aggression.
The committee urged the international community to recognise the gravity of India’s unprovoked and illegal actions and to hold it accountable for blatant violations of international norms and laws.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace with dignity and honour, the NSC affirmed that no violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity would be tolerated, nor would any harm to its people be allowed.
The forum was briefed that Indian armed forces had launched coordinated missile, air, and drone strikes on multiple locations within Pakistan’s sovereign territory. These included Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, and Bahawalpur in Punjab, as well as Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The unprovoked and unjustified attacks targeted civilian areas on the false pretext of alleged terrorist camps, resulting in the martyrdom of innocent men, women, and children. Damage was also inflicted on civilian infrastructure, including mosques.
