Pakistan to Co-Host UN Peacekeeping Talks Ahead of Berlin Summit

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Pakistan, in collaboration with the Republic of Korea, will co-host a two-day United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial preparatory meeting in Islamabad starting Tuesday.
The event will lay the groundwork for the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting scheduled for next month in Berlin, Germany.
The preparatory meeting will feature a series of panel discussions on the future of peacekeeping, including evolving challenges, the use of technology to enhance safety and effectiveness, the role of regional and cross-regional organisations in supporting UN peace operations, improving peacekeeper performance, and adopting an integrated approach for sustainable and durable peace.
The gathering will serve as an opportunity to reaffirm Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to UN peacekeeping, where it stands as one of the leading troop-contributing countries.
To date, Pakistan has deployed 235,000 peacekeepers across 48 UN missions. A total of 181 Pakistani peacekeepers have laid down their lives in the line of duty in pursuit of global peace and security.
