ISLAMABAD (AIA) Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Saturday that Pakistan’s international standing has improved significantly due to its principled and proactive diplomacy.
Speaking at a year-end briefing, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s victory in the four-day conflict with India, saying it sent a strong message to the world and countered India’s claim of being the region’s net security provider.
Dar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through a UN-brokered plebiscite and strengthening ties with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Gulf countries. He also noted Pakistan’s strategic partnership with China and engagement with Central Asian states.
On economic fronts, Dar stressed the need to transform Pakistan into an economic power, utilizing its natural resources and exploring hydrocarbons. He cited growing trade with the US, exceeding $13 billion, and hopes for continued GSP Plus status with the EU.
