PM Shehbaz Sharif Receives Honorary PhD in Leadership, Governance from IIUM Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree in Leadership and Governance by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur. Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Queen of Pahang state and constitutional head of IIUM, awarded the degree.
Speaking at the event, PM Shehbaz Sharif termed it a “great privilege,” expressing confidence in strengthening academic ties between IIUM and Pakistan’s leading institutions. He stressed leadership is a “sacred trust” requiring honesty, justice, and accountability. Highlighting challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah, he emphasized adherence to Islamic values and ethics to reclaim their global standing.
Tunku Azizah lauded PM Shehbaz Sharif’s visionary leadership, noting his initiatives like Punjab’s education endowment fund opened higher learning doors for thousands. She said Pakistan and Malaysia’s bond has grown stronger under his leadership. The Prime Minister, in a post on X, called it a “humbling experience,” accepting the honour on behalf of Pakistan’s people, symbolizing deep intellectual and cultural ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
