Punjab Launches Online Portal to Support Wedding Expenses for Underprivileged Families

MULTAN (AIA) In a bid to assist underprivileged families struggling with wedding expenses for their daughters, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the ‘Dhee Rani’ initiative, offering financial and material support through a newly operational online portal.

The project enables eligible families to apply online via the Punjab government’s portal, https://cmp.punjab.gov.pk/, to access a range of support, including meal expenses for 20 guests, necessary furniture, utensils, clothes, household items as wedding gifts, and a monetary gift of Rs 100,000 as ‘Salami’ for each couple, disbursed via ATM.

Applications are now being accepted, and a helpline (1312) is available to assist users with the process. Special teams will conduct home visits to verify applications, ensuring transparency in the selection process.

According to details on the portal, eligible applicants must be unmarried women aged 18–40 who are orphans, destitute, disabled, or daughters of disabled parents, and must be residents of Punjab. In cases where the number of applications exceeds the program’s capacity, an electronic draw will determine the final recipients.

Applicants are also required to submit an affidavit affirming their unmarried status and their willingness to participate in the government’s collective marriage program.
