Strengthening Educators: HEC Rolls Out National Training Programme for Faculty, Staff

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), under the Higher Education Commission (HEC), launched the National Outreach Programme on Monday, aiming to advance the skills of faculty and management at universities across Pakistan.
The programme’s Phase-I rollout targets 64 public sector universities, providing structured training and funding to enhance faculty teaching, research, and administrative skills. Young faculty members, including lecturers and assistant professors from universities established in the last 20 years, will receive a four-week training programme, with each host university granted Rs. 3.5 million to conduct these sessions.
For university management, the initiative offers a one-week training designed to strengthen managerial and leadership competencies among administrative staff from universities founded within the last decade. Each host university will receive Rs. 1.5 million to support this component, aimed at fostering effective decision-making, communication, and team-building skills.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC, addressed vice chancellors of selected universities at the event, underscoring the programme’s role in advancing Pakistan’s higher education standards. He urged universities to make sustainable use of these resources by developing long-term training modules and maintaining consistent collaboration with HEC.
