ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the government’s commitment to harnessing new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to drive national and economic development. During a meeting with a high-level delegation of AI experts in the UK, Sharif stressed the need to leverage global expertise, including from overseas Pakistanis, to accelerate digital transformation.
The delegation, comprising representatives from BlackRock, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Deloitte, and leading AI firms, discussed practical AI applications to address Pakistan’s key challenges. Chairman Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority Bilal Bin Saqib highlighted AI as a present-day opportunity, with the government taking concrete measures to tap its potential.
The meeting underscores Pakistan’s vision for digital transformation, innovation-led growth, and tech-driven policymaking.
