— January 6, 2026
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain has said the National Wheat Policy is aimed at stabilizing prices to protect farmers from market uncertainty and ensure food security. He was chairing the third meeting of the National Wheat Oversight Committee in Islamabad to review the progress on setting up Provincial Implementation Units for the policy’s rollout.
The committee was informed that all provinces and regions have successfully established their units to coordinate implementation. Punjab, KP, and Balochistan will involve private sector firms for wheat procurement under the strategic reserve model. The minister noted that the policy will support farmers, maintain price stability, and protect consumers from inflationary pressure, paving the way for a sustainable and balanced wheat market.
