YPP Announces Membership Drive to Empower Young Pakistanis on National and International Stages
— October 8, 2024
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Ubaid Qureshi, President of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan (YPP), has announced the opening of a nationwide membership drive, offering young Pakistanis the opportunity to amplify their voices on both national and international stages. The initiative, launched on Tuesday, is designed to bring together future leaders dedicated to contributing to the socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The YPP is excited to harness the energy and innovative ideas of Pakistan’s youth through this membership drive. It provides a unique platform for young individuals to engage in national progress and global discourse, particularly on issues aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to these goals and aims to boost the country’s representation on the global stage.
As a leading platform, YPP empowers young people to participate in civic activities, policy-making, and advocacy at national and international levels. Applications are now being invited from across Pakistan, with the aim of bridging the gap between the nation’s young population and the policy-making process.
Qureshi explained, “Youth from across the country can join as ‘General Members,’ while those residing abroad can join as ‘Overseas Members,’ by expressing interest in specific fields, committees, or cabinet positions. Our seven regional chapters cover Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring broad representation.”
He also highlighted plans to promote senior members to the Executive Council and Alumni Board, as well as the formation of an advisory board composed of senior experts, parliamentarians, retired bureaucrats, and professionals from various fields.
Qureshi emphasised that YPP, a legally registered entity, is affiliated with the National Assembly Forum for Young Parliamentarians, the British Election Commission, and the United Nations. This gives members the chance to project a positive image of Pakistan on the international stage.
Aspiring youth leaders aged 18 to 35, from anywhere in the world, can register online for membership at https://forms.gle/ jSm6nZNU5w1nE9gi8 before October 20, 2024.
