Federal Cabinet Promotes COAS to Field Marshal, Extends Air Chief’s Term

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The Federal Cabinet has approved the promotion of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal in recognition of his courageous leadership and exceptional strategy during the Marka-e-Haq campaign against Indian aggression.
The decision was made in a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The cabinet unanimously approved the continuation of services of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu beyond the expiry of his current term.
Additionally, the federal cabinet decided that officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces, including ghazis, martyrs, and civilians from various fields, will be awarded high government honours in recognition of their services during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
