DAVOS (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and leaders from 19 countries signed the Gaza Board of Peace charter, a US-led initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts, at the World Economic Forum in Davos today.
The Board of Peace, launched by US President Donald Trump, seeks to address international conflicts, starting with the Gaza ceasefire deal. Countries that signed the charter include Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia.
While the initiative has sparked controversy, with some viewing it as a potential rival to the United Nations, Trump emphasized that the Board of Peace would work “in conjunction” with the UN. The board’s permanent members are expected to contribute $1 billion each.
