CM Punjab Orders Tight Security for Polio Teams

LAHORE (AIA) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed police and administrative authorities to implement stringent security measures for polio workers engaged in the ongoing vaccination campaign across the province.
“It is the government’s responsibility to ensure the security of workers participating in this jihad against polio,” the chief minister stated. She paid tribute to the dedication of polio workers and urged them to continue their hard work. Appealing to the public for cooperation, she emphasised the importance of anti-polio vaccinations in protecting children from lifelong disabilities.
The CM reiterated the government’s commitment to making Punjab completely polio-free and stressed the need for effective vaccination campaigns, particularly at the province’s entry points. She directed authorities to ensure children travelling through railway stations and bus stands are vaccinated.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining cold-chain transportation according to SOPs, the chief minister called for thorough planning to eliminate environmental samples of the polio virus. She also instructed the establishment of special vaccination camps at hospitals and prominent locations in cities, including Lahore, to facilitate public access to the campaign.
