NDMA Partners with UNICEF, AKAH to Promote Disaster Preparedness in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (AIA) The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has launched a documentary series aimed at raising awareness about climate change, hazard profiles, and region-specific vulnerabilities as part of its broader risk communication strategy, the authority announced Friday.
Pakistan, ranked as the fifth most climate-vulnerable country globally, continues to face escalating environmental challenges. Climate change, recognised as one of the greatest security threats, acts as a risk multiplier, intensifying natural disasters with far-reaching consequences.
The latest instalment in the series focuses on Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), an approach that equips local communities with the knowledge and tools to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. Developed in collaboration with UNICEF and the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH), the initiative emphasises resilience-building through education, early warning systems, and community engagement.
The documentary highlights the power of collective action, showing how communities, supported by local and global partnerships, can enhance disaster preparedness and resilience.
The NDMA encourages the public to watch the documentary and join efforts in building a prepared and resilient Pakistan.
