— April 14, 2025
ISLAMABAD (AIA) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed satisfaction as foreign remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis crossed the $4 billion mark in a single month for the first time in the country’s history, calling it a reflection of their confidence in the government’s policies.
In a statement, the premier thanked Pakistani expatriates for sending a record $4.1 billion in March this year, pushing the total remittance volume for the current fiscal year to $28 billion.
He noted that this marked a 37.4% increase compared to remittances received in March last year.
Highlighting the timing, the prime minister said that the announcement of this record-breaking surge during the ongoing Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad demonstrated the dedication, passion, and trust of overseas Pakistanis in Pakistan’s economy and the government’s economic measures.
Calling them a “valuable asset”, Shehbaz praised overseas Pakistanis for working tirelessly abroad, saying they not only make the nation proud but also strengthen the national economy through their remittances.
He assured that the entire nation holds its overseas community in high regard and that the government remains committed to providing all necessary facilities to them.
