LAHORE (AIA) Sikh pilgrims from India who travelled to Pakistan to celebrate the 555th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak will return home via the Wagah border crossing on Saturday.
During their 10-day pilgrimage, the visitors expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for its hospitality and the exceptional facilities provided. The pilgrims performed religious rituals at Gurdwara Dera Sahib and visited iconic landmarks, including Lahore Fort, Greater Iqbal Park, and the bustling markets of Anarkali Bazaar and Shah Alam Market.
Women pilgrims particularly enjoyed their shopping experiences, while others commended the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) for ensuring a peaceful environment and excellent accommodation. “The beauty of our Gurdwaras and the arrangements made for us were truly remarkable,” said Sarabjit Singh, one of the pilgrims.
The farewell ceremony at the Wagah border will be attended by key officials, including the President of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC), Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, and Additional Secretary Shrines, Saifullah Khokhar. Both officials spent time with the pilgrims at Gurdwara Dera Sahib, ensuring their comfort and addressing their needs.
The Sikh pilgrims praised the Pakistani government for its commitment to facilitating their religious journey and fostering goodwill between the two nations.
The group will conclude their memorable trip and cross back into India on Saturday, November 23.
