— July 21, 2025
LAHORE (AIA) Pakistan is on the cusp of a transportation revolution with the introduction of its first trackless, ticketless, and solar-powered metro in Lahore. The city has received its inaugural demonstration vehicle for the Super Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (SRT) System, a cutting-edge transportation solution that combines the efficiency of a subway with the flexibility of operating on roads.
The SRT System utilizes advanced Virtual Track Technology, incorporating sensors, GPS, and digital mapping to navigate through the city without the need for physical rails. A pilot project has been launched near Lahore Airport to test the battery-powered electric vehicle, marking a significant milestone in the country’s pursuit of sustainable and modern transportation solutions.
The launch ceremony was attended by officials from Pakistan and China, underscoring the collaborative efforts behind this innovative project. This initiative is poised to transform Lahore’s transportation landscape, offering a glimpse into the future of urban mobility in Pakistan.
