Pakistan ready to work with Japanese firms on technology investment: Shaza

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima has said there is enormous potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Japan in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, semiconductors, chip design, smart manufacturing, electric mobility, cybersecurity and clean technology.

She made the remarks while virtually addressing the Pakistan Business Seminar in Tokyo.

Shaza Fatima said Japan brings technological excellence, innovation and precision, while Pakistan offers a young population equipped with talent, energy and ambition. She emphasised the need to move beyond traditional cooperation towards co-creation to build a shared technological future.

The minister said Pakistan does not want to remain merely a consumer of technology but aims to become an active contributor to its development. She added that Pakistan is an increasingly connected country and is determined to strengthen its position in the global digital economy.

Highlighting Pakistan’s investment environment, Shaza Fatima said the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) provides a platform to ensure investor-friendly policies, facilitate investors and promote continuity and certainty in the investment process.

She said Pakistan is ready to work directly with Japanese companies interested in investing in the country’s technology sector as well as other areas of the economy.
