Pakistan’s First Infant Mental Health Conference Begins Friday

ISLAMABAD (AIA) Pakistan’s first national conference on infant mental health, titled Baby Matters Conference 2025, is set to begin on Friday, April 11.
The three-day international event is being organised by the Health Services Academy (HSA), The Healing Triad, and the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning.
The conference aims to underscore the critical importance of a child’s first 1,000 days, focusing on early emotional and psychological development. It seeks to promote research, evidence-based policymaking, and greater awareness among parents, health professionals, educators, and decision-makers.
Renowned national and international experts in paediatrics, mental health, research, and policy will participate in discussions on key themes including infant emotional development, caregiver bonding, and trauma-informed practices.
The event will also feature the anticipated launch of a national Infant Mental Health Repository and the formation of the Pakistan Association of Infant Mental Health.
“Investing in infant mental health is an investment in Pakistan’s future,” said Professor Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor of HSA. He noted that the conference will bring together professionals from health, education, and social sectors to lay the foundation for a stronger support system for the country’s youngest citizens.
